Cries of Redemption - A Music First Philosophy Since 2007
Cries of Redemption (COR) is a multifaceted modern rock project founded in 2007 in Savannah, Georgia, by guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ed Silva. Pushing its sonic DNA deep into the “experimental” zone rather than rigidly adhering to a single genre, COR seamlessly blends elements of NuMetal, Classic Trance, Cinematic Trap, and Romanian Deep House. Operating under a strict “Music first! Music only! Zero gimmicks!” philosophy, Silva lets the music speak for itself, completely rejecting social media and algorithmic appeasement in favor of the writing and recording process.
The project's raw intensity traces back to the grueling underground music circuits of the American Southeast. Earning his stripes playing unforgiving Monday and Tuesday midnight gigs in downtown Atlanta, Silva’s relentless drive propelled him to headlining top-tier venues for independent acts, including Smith's Olde Bar, The Dark Horse Tavern, and Sloppy Joe's, accompanied by high-profile appearances on the legendary terrestrial radio station 96ROCK. This live background eventually expanded into the coastal scenes of Beaufort and Hilton Head, SC.
COR formally took shape in the studio at the legendary Elevated Basement in Savannah. Naming the project after one of the songs being recorded, Silva collaborated with friends and vocalists Mallory Carter (a Savannah Arts Academy graduate) and Josh Bostick, alongside hired session players. Engineered by Kevin Rose (GAM, Superhorse), these sessions yielded the unreleased debut EP, From a Drunken Heart. Embracing a bootstrapped DIY ethos, the artwork was designed entirely by Silva using Microsoft PowerPoint. Only 10 CDs were ever pressed, and Silva didn't even retain a copy for himself, rendering the physical artifact a profound rarity.
Throughout COR’s history—well-documented on platforms like Kompoz and BandCamp since 2006—Silva has written 100% of all music and lyrics (unless explicitly stated) and owns 100% of his rights. He plays guitar and sequences the remaining instrumentation while frequently hiring powerful female session vocalists. In 2015, Silva enlisted heavyweights from Kompoz to record a 12-song self-titled EP. This era cemented a crucial creative partnership with Billy "sriracha" Babcock, who engineered the EP and played lead guitar on all tracks.
As a solo architect, Silva is an early adopter of emerging technologies, utilizing them strictly for "augmentation," never creation. He utilizes Audimee for his own screaming vocals, full iZotope and Waves suites for mixing and mastering, and employs AI only in an assistive capacity. By using his own original music as input, AI helps streamline workflows while retaining 100% of his musicality and sonic DNA. His vast array of influences includes David Gilmour, John Frusciante, Luis Ortiz, Adrian Smith, Billy Duffy, Carl Cox, Victor de la Pena, and Danny Elfman.
Decades of uncompromising independence culminated in a watershed moment in 2026. Silva made history as the first independent Georgia artist inducted into the prestigious TJPL News Class of 2026. The project dominated independent media with a double-spread feature in TJPL News (Vol 39) for the emotionally weighty "This Is What It Feels Like," and a flawless five-star review of the album Patterns by Tamara Jenna.
Global media response across major publications has been overwhelmingly positive:

This critical acclaim has translated to massive commercial syndication across the Atlantic. Since February 2026, COR has been a fixture on the Euro Indie Music Chart, racking up thousands of chart points. A powerful partnership with Formula Indie has placed every Cries of Redemption release on heavy rotation across 80 radio stations in 12 countries, starting with "This Is What It Feels Like" and continuing with every subsequent release.
After nearly 20 years, Ed is now archiving his vast catalog of unreleased material on major platforms. He does not do this for clicks or validation, but for posterity—making his life's work available to the castaways, misfits, and the "bruised and battered" to whom these songs are dedicated: the best friends he has not yet met. For two decades, COR has served as a sanctuary for Ed’s creativity, and he hopes those who can benefit from its message will someday find it.
